Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed it was a ‘serious’ injury and that he could be out for a while
‘It’s bad. It’s a muscle injury in the adductor. Of course we don’t know the dimension, we have to wait, but it is certainly a difficult injury, ‘said Mourinho.
Asked if it was possibly a long-term injury, the Spurs manager said, “I’d say so.”
Joe Rodon, a transfer term from Swansea City, replaced the Belgian in defense alongside Eric Dier.
Mourinho suggested the injury was due to fatigue after several international matches
Mourinho suggested the injury was affected by fatigue.
“We don’t blame anyone. He played in the international matches that the (Belgian) team needed to win to qualify for the last four. He plays with us so well that we decided to play with him instead of letting him rest.
“No one can be blamed just to recover as soon as possible,” he said.
